This or That: Getting to Know Me

If you just stumbled upon my blog and this post, thank you. And, of course, hello and welcome! I am Hannah Beth, writer and reader extraordinaire of YA romance.

Do you love games of Would You Rather? So do I. And though you could read my bio, I thought doing a This or That post would be much more fun and informative!

 Shall we begin?

Hannah’s This or Thats:

Book Edition

Fiction or Nonfiction

Fiction, undoubtedly. I am all about fiction, it’s what I write and so what I read. I do enjoy the occasional nonfiction and I do have my favorites.

Ebook or Audiobook

Audiobook. I don’t enjoy reading on a screen. It’s hard on my eyes. I like audiobooks because I can do other tasks and activities while listening. I’m very picky about my audiobooks however. I like a narrator who reads with feeling, most I find want to put me to sleep. I especially enjoy it when there are a variety of voices. Maybe I should just say I prefer audio dramas.

Paperback or Hardcover

Tricky question! I adore both. Here’s why: 1) Hardcovers usually are fancy covers with embossed titles that look aesthetically pleasing on one’s shelves. And they just feel good! 2) Paperbacks are more bendable and don’t jab you in the leg. So my answer is…both.

Binge Read or Slow Reader

Depends on life. I like to binge read and do it occasionally (like on my vacation last month), but since I began to take my writing seriously, reading has been set on the back burner. So whereas I like binge reading, I do more slow reading.

Buy or Borrow

Buy of course! I love getting new books and adding them to my growing collection. But they’re so expensive! Why?!

Standalones or Series

I do like series’s, but I prefer standalones. I find it difficult to commit to a series especially if it’s more than three books (and depends on how thick). I read longer series if they are still in the process of being published (example: The Starlore Legacy by Chuck Black. It's twelve books long).

Bookstore or Library

Amazon. XD jk, jk! Well, no, I really do prefer Amazon, but I also enjoy bookstores. I actually really love thrifting for books. You can find some really great ones for WAY cheaper and in pristine condition.

Fantasy or Contemporary

Contemporary. And historical. I don’t read a lot of fantasy. Except for Chuck Black, Kara Swanson, and Shonna Slayton.

Friends-to-Lovers or Enemies-to-Lovers

BOTH!!! Oh my goodness! They are both so amazing and different and splendid! Friends-to-Lovers tropes are so sweet and cozy. Meanwhile Enemies-to-Lovers tropes! *dreamy sigh* Spicy! I love the banter.

Forced Proximity or Grumpy/Sunshine

Mr. Grumpy and Miss. Sunshine all the way! This trope gives me all the satisfying and warm feelies (I know that’s not necessarily a word, but I’m a writer, I can make up words!).

Fake Dating or Forbidden Love

 Forbidden love.

Comedy or Tear-Jerker

Both are nice. But I like to feel something when I read, that and I’m a very emotional reader, so tear-jerker.

And with that, I’m going to close. I could go on, but I don’t want to bore you all. I hope you enjoyed my first post and shall return for more. Let me know in the comments what romance trope you prefer. Or several. There’s a lot of tropes! And what are some this or that’s you would like me to answer in future posts (doesn’t have to be book related)? Until next time!
