Pride and Prejudice Audiobook Review
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.”
Ah…this line always brings me such happy memories. Pride and Prejudice has always been near and dear to my heart. I was thrilled to find this audiobook, or rather audio drama (?). Listening to Mister Collins’s or Darcy’s (1st) proposals is a whole other, wonderful, experience than just reading it in one’s own mind. But I digress. Let’s continue with the review.
Summary
Created by Ballarat National Theatre, Pride and Prejudice is an audio drama adapted from Jane Austen’s novel by the same name.
Elizabeth Bennet, a lively young woman, is introduced to arrogant, proud Mister Darcy, whom she instantly dislikes. Yet perhaps he is not as he seems. Could Elizabeth discover the true Darcy? A classic story of opposites attract and enemies-to-lovers.
Evaluation
This audio was a joy to listen to. Done by a professional theater company, every character was played by a different actor or actress. The actors were all talented, I could hear the emotion, the passion, in their voices. That paired with their accents…*swoons* the soundtrack was marvelous as well. And, finally, Liana Skewes’s outro was entertaining to listen to.
Conclusion
So in conclusion, I loved listening to this entertaining, nostalgic, well performed audio drama/audiobook. I shall definitely be listening to this again. And because of that, my rating is 5/5. If you enjoy Jane Austen, audiobooks, Pride and Prejudice, accents, or all of the above, then I recommend this to you. You can find it on the Podcast app.
Enjoy!
