The Letter from Briarton Park Review

*sweeps into the room wearing a blossom-pink, empire-style gown. I curtsy to you, my dear reader*

How do you do, my dear Madame or gentleman? Welcome to another book review. A regency era book review! The regency era is my favorite era. Those gowns, dashing gentlemen in cravats, and Austen novels have turned my head. Every year it seems I go through a regency phase where I want to read, write, and watch regency. I bought this book when I was going through that phase last year and have finally gotten around to reading it! But you came to hear, or read, about this book not me and my crazy habits. So let us begin! Please allow me to introduce you to, The Letter from Briarton Park by Sarah E. Ladd.

Summary

All her life, Cassandra Hale has known nothing about her family. She is stunned, therefore, when she receives a two year old letter from a Mr. Clark of Briarton Park that reveals he knows who her family is. But when Cassandra arrives at the Park, she discovers that Mr. Clark is dead. Instead a widower, James Warrington, lives there with his two daughters , sister, and mother-in-law. As Cassandra tries to uncover her family things take a dangerous turn for both her and James. Will she be able to uncover the truth? Will she find a place she can call home?

Evaluation

Why is it that the majority of regency romances are mysteries? Or at least all the ones I’ve read have been. I liked this one. It was well written and I liked the characters.

Conclusion

So in conclusion, my rating is 3/5. I like it, but it wasn’t a favourite. If you like regency mysteries, regency era, regency romance, intrigue, and so forth, then I recommend this novel. I hope you enjoy it!
