My Favourite Pride and Prejudice Adaptions

Greetings and good day, ladies and gents! Today’s post is dedicated to all things Pride & Prejudice. Shall we proceed?

Novel Adaption/Retelling

  • Pudge and Prejudice by A. K. Pittman

To be honest, I’ve only ever read two retellings of Pride & Prejudice, but this one is my favourite. I love that it’s set in the 80’s, gives it a unique vibe from other adaptions and retellings. Here’s the blurb:

It’s 1984 and after moving to Northenfield, Texas, with her family, Elyse Nebbit faces the challenge of finding her place in a new school, one dominated by social status and Friday night football. When Elyse’s effortlessly beautiful older sister Jayne starts dating golden boy Charlie Bingley, Elyse finds herself curious about Charlie’s popular and brooding best friend, Billy Fitz. Elyse’s body insecurities eventually complicate her relationship with Billy, leaving Jayne and Elyse’s exceedingly blunt friend, Lottie, to step in and help Elyse accept herself for who she is, pant size and all. —blurb taken from book

Movie Adaption

  • 2005 with Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen

On the writing community for young writers that I’m apart of there’s a group called From Thornfield to Pemberley. We have a continual debate about which is better, the 2005 version or the 1995 version. It’s spectacular fun! But I still prefer 2005 Pride and Prejudice.

Audiobook

This is by far my favourite audiobook/drama! And instead of reading my glowing review here, you can find my full review from back in August here! Ah! I adore it!

Musical

  • Pride and Prejudice: A New Musical

I was surprisingly pleased with this musical. Even with a small cast and small stage, it was extremely well done. I found it on YouTube, but unfortunately it’s unavailable on that platform and now I don’t know where to find it. But here’s the trailer!

And that’s all, my dears! What do you think? What’s your favourite novel retelling? 2005 or 1995 or another movie? Let me know in the comments below! I’d love to here from you! Should I do another classic adaption list?
